Catalonia in particular has drawn inspiration from TV soap operas (Istvan is too young to have experienced the Isaura craze of the 1980s, but those horrendous "telenovellas" continued to haunt TV programming for decades), and the adventure romances which have partially inspired the basic game also have their share of kidnappings, forced marriages, or simply star-crossed lovers.

Helvéczia is not centred on romantic historical novels (only taking a little from that genre), but the GM's Almanac includes a short, optional section on running the game in the style of gothic penny dreadfuls, with horrific revelations, family tragedies, and secret destinies. So Helvéczia is not a bodice ripper RPG... unless you really want it to!Melanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07165894144553629675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6188119851730922397.post-54815514887463026232021-03-15T12:40:02.569+01:002021-03-15T12:40:02.569+01:00The Dutch: easily underestimated, to everyone invo...The Dutch: easily underestimated, to everyone involved's misfortune.Melanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07165894144553629675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6188119851730922397.post-17078676926980305212021-03-15T04:06:36.638+01:002021-03-15T04:06:36.638+01:00Fun times, Gabor! Rosenfluyt, who, as a secret botanical agent of the Dutch West India Company, finds all forms of forgery and masquerade to come to him easily.Headless Horse Archer (Premier)https://www.blogger.com/profile/07295139979427782123noreply@blogger.com
