...==I don't believe the attempt has ever worked

Of course it does. It works in isolated groups offline where men play AD&D. Men find it hard to get together to game with like-minded men because of real-life commitments. Immature nancy-boys and transsexuals, who seem to form the majority of online OSR gamers, I am not exaggerating, Patrick Stuart prefers to game with transsexuals, five in a group of seven(?), and this is a clinically understood to be a form of insanity affecting 2 or 3 in 100,000.

Men playing AD&D would be intimidating to nerds because nerds are annoying and have emotional problems.Edmundhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05932779308015790500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6188119851730922397.post-127222974765472392018-11-13T09:15:35.606+01:002018-11-13T09:15:35.606+01:00I don't believe the attempt has ever worked, a...I don't believe the attempt has ever worked, and where it has been tried (indie RPGs, various 90s "deep worldbuilding" games), it has always resulted in a farce. These communities have always turned into the worst excesses of ivory tower navel-gazing and academic politicking, without producing worthwhile games.

Granted, I feel no affinity for modern "nerd culture" either; its slick, incloosive corporate products leave me cold, and its attitudes make me want to get out.

I believe gaming needs a good, honest populist sentiment, able to appreciate the simple pleasures of life without either self-degradation or turning it into an ironic exercise.
